Worker Justice. Migrant Justice. Climate Justice.

Around the world, workers’ lives, livelihoods and rights are under attack. Climate disasters and conflicts are displacing people from their homes, and are increasing risks for working people and all our families. In the face of those challenges, we stand united in our fight for justice for all workers at home and abroad.

Immigrants and refugees have always helped to build, feed and care for our nation, and we will not allow them to be treated as a second class of exploitable workers. We call on the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to take action today to help us tear down barriers to worker organizing and empowerment, so that all working people in our country can live and work safely and with dignity.

Ask DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to expand protections for immigrant workers from countries destabilized by climate disasters and conflict.

Dear Secretary Mayorkas,

The Biden administration has shown a historic commitment to creating good union jobs in the clean energy economy and protecting the rights of all workers, regardless of immigration status. Today, we urge you to continue to expand rights and protections for the vital members of our workforce, our communities and our unions.

Specifically, we call on you to expand temporary protected status (TPS) for all countries destabilized by climate disasters and conflict. As the planet continues to warm up and people are increasingly displaced, TPS is a key tool to support our fight for worker justice at home and abroad.

New and renewed TPS designations will bolster our efforts to build worker power, support welcoming communities, and hold employers accountable for egregious violations of our labor and employment laws.

The labor movement will continue to demand reforms that protect our planet and help lift standards and rights for all workers, with no exclusions. Expanding TPS will help us rein in rampant wage theft, prevent needless workplace fatalities and combat the shameful resurgence of child labor in the 21st century—goals we know this administration shares.
