The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 966 is located in the City of Thunder Bay, sitting on the shore of the Great Lake Superior. Transit in the Lakehead dates back to the late 1890's. However, in 1970 the two neighbouring cities of Port Arthur and Fort William decided to amalgamate creating Thunder Bay, and with that their transit agencies together formed Thunder Bay Transit.

Today, ATU 966 is proud to represent over 150 workers at Thunder Bay Transit consisiting of drivers from Conventional, Specialized (Lift+), and Service Crew.
